From 2022 to 2027, global broadband equipment spending is expected to exceed US$120 billion, and XGS-PON deployment will drive global PON equipment revenue from US$11.8 billion in 2022 to US$13.3 billion in 2027

A recently published report predicts that from 2022 to 2027, as service providers continue to expand their fiber and DOCSIS 3.1/4.0 networks while improving the reliability and sustainability of their broadband access networks , the global sales of PON equipment, Cable broadband access equipment and fixed wireless CPE will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 0.2%.

The group's vice president of broadband access and home networking research said: "After three consecutive years of large-scale broadband network expansion and upgrades, service provider spending levels are expected to return to normal levels in 2023. After 2023, at 25Gbps Spending on broadband equipment is expected to grow from 2026 to 2027, driven by 50Gbps PON, fixed wireless CPE, and DAA and DOCSIS 4.0 deployments."

Additional highlights from the Broadband Access and Home Networking Five-Year Forecast Report, July 2023:

Global PON equipment revenue is expected to grow from $11.8 billion in 2022 to $13.3 billion in 2027, driven by XGS-PON deployments in North America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and CALA (Caribbean and Latin The forecast in the report released in January 2019 was between US$11 billion and US$13.2 billion).

As operators accelerate the deployment of DOCSIS 4.0 and optical fiber, by 2027, the revenue of Cable distributed access equipment (including virtual CCAP, remote PHY equipment, remote MACPHY equipment and remote OLT) is expected to reach 1.6 billion US dollars (forecast half a year ago to $1.5 billion).

Driven by shipments of 5G Sub-6GHz and 5G mm Wave devices, fixed wireless CPE revenue is expected to reach $2.7 billion by 2027 (vs. $2.2 billion forecast half a year ago).

Residential Wi-Fi router revenue will exceed $5.2 billion by 2027, driven by high shipments of Wi-Fi 7.
