A certain forecast: Global cloud infrastructure spending will reach $101.4 billion in 2023

In 2023, cloud infrastructure spending will increase 10.6% from 2022, reaching $101.4 billion. This was slightly higher than the previous forecast of 7.3% growth. Non-cloud infrastructure spending is expected to reach $58.5 billion, down 7.9%. Slow growth forecasts for non-cloud infrastructure reflect expectations that the market will face headwinds.

According to a certain latest report, the second quarter of 2023 (2Q23). Spending on computing and storage infrastructure products for cloud deployments increased 7.9% year over year. Reaching US$24.6 billion.

Cloud infrastructure spending continues to outpace non-cloud infrastructure spending, which fell 8.3% to $14.4 billion in 2Q23. Demand in the cloud infrastructure segment fell by 23.2%.But the average selling price (ASP) increased. 

In the first half of 2023, shared cloud infrastructure spending exceeded non-cloud spending, accounting for 45.8% of total infrastructure spending. Dedicated cloud infrastructure spending fell 4.9% year-on-year in 2Q23 to $6.7 billion.

According to this forecast, cloud infrastructure spending will increase by 10.6% in 2023 compared with 2022. Reaching US$101.4 billion. This was slightly higher than the previous forecast of 7.3% growth. Non-cloud infrastructure spending is expected to reach $58.5 billion, down 7.9%.

Shared cloud infrastructure spending is expected to reach $72 billion for the full year, an increase of 13.5%. Spending on dedicated cloud infrastructure is expected to grow 4.1%, reaching $29.4 billion for the full year. Slow growth forecasts for non-cloud infrastructure reflect expectations that the market will face headwinds.

According to this forecast, in the long term, during the forecast period of 2022-2027. Cloud infrastructure spending will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.3%.

It is expected to reach $156.7 billion by 2027, accounting for 69.4% of total computing and storage infrastructure spending. Shared cloud infrastructure spending will grow at a CAGR of 11.6% and will reach $109.7 billion by 2027.

Spending on dedicated cloud infrastructure will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10.7% to $47 billion.

Spending on non-cloud infrastructure will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 1.7%, reaching $69.1 billion by 2027. Service provider spending on computing and storage infrastructure is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10.9%. It will reach US$152.6 billion by 2027.
